About Me
I am a PhD researcher at Saarland University and the Neuro-Mechanistic Modeling (NMM) group at DFKI, working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Verena Wolf. My research lies at the intersection of Explainable Machine Learning and Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), with a recent focus on AI-driven drug discovery and antibiotic candidate optimization. I have a strong preference for mathematically rigorous, first-principles approaches over opaque black-box models.
My academic background actually started in electrical engineering and signal processing. Prior to shifting my focus to molecular machine learning, I was a Senior Research Fellow at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, where I collaborated with the Indian government’s Department of Science and Technology to predict asthma using vocal breath sounds.
When I’m not forcing graph networks to explain their reasoning or waiting for jobs to finish on the university’s HPC clusters, you’ll usually find me either on a tennis court or cooking or deep in a rabbit hole about historical war logistics, high-altitude mountain warfare tactics and medieval history. Or, if you are lucky to join me, scuba diving in mediterranean along Costa Brava.
